New year, same blog

Wow, I cannot believe it’s been so long since I’ve been on here. But oh well, back on it again!
So, a new year is here and everyone is in the middle of their New Years resolutions, most involving gym visits and crazy restrictive diets, but not me. Nope, I’ve tried the whole resolution thing and I’ve only ended up breaking them. Also, I think it’s kind of stupid. I mean, why wait for a new year to start working toward something you want to achieve? Why not just start today?
Instead of giving myself all these things I need to start doing, just because a new year is here, I’ve set goals that I want to achieve by the end of this year. I’m going to work towards those goals and we’ll see how I make them happen. And if I haven’t reached all my goals by the end of this year, then no harm done because I won’t have failed, but will just keep working towards those goals even after next Hogmanay.
Last year was an eventful one for me and my three top achievements must be:
Going to Thailand
Moving to Edinburgh
Quit smoking
I’m particularly happy with the last item since smoking is a dirty habit that I’ve been wanting to kick for years. I still have the occasional ciggy when I’m drunk, but even that is a very rare occurance these days.
As for item no 2, I love this city more and more every day. When I saw how amazing the Christmas celebrations were here during all of December, I realised I’ve found my soulmate city. I know I’ll be happy here for a very long time. It feels like home.
