Amazing day there in Uhmpang

What a great day today has been! I started it off with a nice, long walk before breakfast with my Norwegian gal pal Elise. It gets freaking cold here in the night – around 14 degrees, which is like a 20 degree drop – but that means that it is the perfect temperature for a morning power walk!

When we got back we had breakfast (American pancakes, which I can't eat, so I got eggs instead) and then we left the Uhmpang Guesthouse at 9 am to go and cut banana trees to feed the elephants with. So we drove up to the farm and started working. It was really hard work and the banana trees are a lot heavier than they look! But it was so much fun to do!

Afterwards we went and fed the freshly cut trees to the elephants, and just chilled with them for a few hours. We also got to see how incredibly strong and clever these animals are when we got to watch one of them help the carers move a massive tree trunk from the water. It was amazing to watch! Not sure how I feel about the fact that they were put to work, but it was still really cool.

We had lunch with the elephants before we all jumped into the back of the trucks to go to a nearby waterfall. Some of the boys got on the roof to the truck (only men allowed up there apparently) and I think it's a miracle they didn't fall off!

It took us about an hour, which about 20 minutes being on this insanely bumpy jungle road, to get to the waterfall. There we swam and chilled for a bit and just enjoyed the nice weather. Some people jumped from higher up, which I thought was insane! If I was to try that I would've died haha!

Back in town we chilled, had dinner at the guesthouse, took another walk, showered (we have warm showers!!! Haven't had a warm shower in over a week!!!) and then we all went down to the local bar, where we had some drinks, ate some onion rings and snacks, and played pool. We went home pretty early, though, because we've got an early day tomorrow. I'm so excited for what it has to bring! But right now I need some sleep.
