Don't Stop Me Now, I'm having such a good time!

I've just completed my third day of training at Five Guys, and let me tell you, I'm loving it! I mean, it's intense and really hard work, but the atmosphere is so energetic and fun, and I'm just having a great time!

The training started on Saturday with an induction day, where the managers and trainers educated us about everything to do with the Five Guys brand, followed by some cleaning, which seemed like a lot, but apparently was only A FRACTION of all the cleaning we'll have to do when we open (!!!).

Following the induction day was a day for online training consisting of lots of reading and wee tests, which was boring but obviously necessary knowledge!

This week (meaning yesterday and today) we did more "real stuff". Yesterday was the Customer Service training, consisting of lots of exercises on how to provide excellent customer service, and also a different one, where we all had to stand opposite a fellow crew member, and simply... look into each other's eyes, without talking, for 22 seconds! This is the length of time that the card machine takes to process a card payment, and I think the purpose was to show us just how awkward these 22 seconds can be, if we just stand there quietly. It was definitely weird, and we we're all laughing, haha!

Today we got learn about cleaning and how the food is prepared, and then (woohoo!!) we got to order our own burgers! I have never had a Five Guys before, and after trying it, I totally understand why it's so popular, coz it really is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! And despite being aware of the size of the fries portions, I was still shocked at how LARGE a SMALL fries is haha!

Today's training shift finished by us spending two hours scrubbing the entire place back to new, and while intense and hard work (even though I was washing dishes, which is the easiest station..), it was a lot of fun as well! I never knew cleaning could be that much fun!

So far, it has been a blast working for Five Guys, and the people are all great! There have been lots of laughs, and jokes and silliness, mixed with the learning and practicing. It's really obvious that the company really cares about it's employees, and maintaining a good atmosphere, and that makes me really excited to work for them! I am feeling the pressure, though, as I know it is going to be ridiculously hard work, but I have been slacking off way too much since I graduated, and I look forward to a challenge!
